“Good morning!” I say, trying to be friendly to the fellow hiker we now just walked up to.

“I’m doing great, how about yourself?” Seem to be in autopilot right now with my polite manners.

“Are you heading down the mountain as well?”

“Oh, perfect! How is everything going?”

Philosophical Engineering

Often we assume we know what the other person is going to say and we don’t listen to him. And then we wonder why people don’t want to listen to us. We focus on what we want to say instead.

Next time in a conversation, try and hear what the other person is actually saying. You already know what you hear like.
