Mountain Minute: Do you have a meaning making process?

What is your meaning making process? Do you have one?

Philosophical Engineering

You might be asking, well what is "meaning"? And to not get all "wise-old-philosopher-with-hand-to-chin-thinking-pose" on you, that's really what this question is asking. How and where do you find meaning? Is it in the vulnerable space of your mind where you grapple with concepts to fit them into your world? Is it in the intimate details in your relationships that doesn't get shared on social media?

Philosophical Engineering is mine. Through analysis of theory, practice of the "skills" necessary, and holding myself accountable, I attempt to find meaning. e.g. Running a marathon. There is knowledge to be learned of how to train, how to rest, how to eat properly, and then how to pace yourself during a race. The skills are the everyday holding yourself accountable and then I add another level of accountability where I sign up for a race. Another example. Psychology grad school. There is knowledge to be learned of different aspects in personality theories, life-span developments, ethical considerations as practicing psychologists, designing experiments. The skills are performing the assignments every week and getting the homework done. The added level of accountability beyond turning in an assignment is passing the course.
